This is a super exciting post that I couldn’t wait to share with you all! Today I’ll be introducing you guys to Flatbush Fest. I’ve recently joined this team of super amazing women (yes, all women!) and will be running social media for the event. I’m having a lot of fun being apart of this team and obviously had to come and tell you guys all about it.
So here’s the deets..
Flatbush Fest is a three day festival fundraiser that takes place in Flatbush, Brooklyn (not too far from my neck of the woods).
Flatbush is a historic neighborhood in Brooklyn and one of the most diverse. Every day there’s over 100 languages spoken amongst 600,000+ residents. That’s insane! Growing up I remember Flatbush being referred to as one of NY’s many “Coolie Villes” because of how many West Indians live there but there’s so much more than that. The people of Flatbush come from all walks of life and all backgrounds. There’s your West Indians, Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Asians and Jews.
Flatbush is a perfect example of what a melting pot is.
The event’s goal is to grow connectedness, empathy, and community among all residents of Flatbush and neighboring areas. We want to create an opportunity for neighbors to gather, meet and have fun as we all celebrate the unique characteristics of this ever-changing but long living Brooklyn neighborhood.
There are so many cool things happening at this event! Picture it; an entire weekend full of nothing but art, music, dancing, laughter. It can’t get any better than that.
There’ll be over 20 food vendors, over 10 artists and performers present, and you’ll get to meet with some of our amazing sponsors like ModernMD, CUMBE Dance, CaribBeing, WeWork, BKLYN Commons, House of Juice, and so many more.
Mark your calendars kids because this is an event you don’t want to miss!
